FAQ (Energy efficiency inspections)

Why should I have my house surveyed?
Your electricity or heating bills will have increased by approximately 10% in the last six months. This equates to approximately $200 per year for the average house.

To combat these increasing costs you have to reduce the amount of power/fuel you are losing unnecessarily from your walls, roof and around the windows and doors.

Our images can show you where you are losing the most energy and how much this is costing you and the environment per year.

Why spend $2,000 to change your windows when 90% of you energy loss is from your walls or roof.

My house is new, surely it’s well insulated?
Unfortunately, we have found approximately  60% of new builds have large areas of poor or missing insulation. If you have a new home or have had your insulation carried out recently – wouldn’t you like to make sure it is okay.

What do you do?
Our fully trained building surveyors will visit your property to take a thermographic image of the elevations of your property. All surveyors are fully uniformed and have identification. We do not have to enter your home or disturb you in any way.

The thermo graphic image is then analysed by our team and processed through our unique energy assessment software. This automatically assesses areas of heat loss and calculates estimated additional energy usage, costs and CO2. (Energy calculations are an additional option).

What do I have to do?
All we require from you is that you put your heating on in all the rooms on the evening we survey your home. It would also be helpful to increase the accuracy of the costings if you could tell us the construction of your walls – this is not compulsory as we can make assumptions based on the age and design of your property.

What do I get?
You will receive a full colour infra-red thermo graphic image of your home, an easy to understand description of heat loss areas along with the associated energy usage, savings and CO2 (optional).
